New content coming! — The Voice Lesson

Summer is coming, UK’s semester has ended, but I’m still working furiously! Two things are coming….

  • The Voice Lesson: I just completed this work under commission from the Lexington Chamber Chorale, Dr. Gary Anderson, artistic director. It uses a lyric set contributed by local author/poet George Ella Lyon. Although “complete,” I’m still doing a few clean-up tasks, and I’ve not posted actual music content yet. (Getting all the permissions in line will require some effort!). When I have a Sibelius export in hand, I’ll make an announcement here, and the results will be linked then. In the meantime, you can read about this work (the interaction between a voice instructor and her student) on the project page here.
  • Piano Suite. Under the encouragement of composition instructor Juan Trigos, School of Music, UK, I intend to expand my solo piano compositions into a suite of works. The first, “Rondo-B’out,” is complete, and a 2nd piece, tentatively titled “Valzer Errante” (errant waltz), is only this week underway. But I’m excited to be working on something, and will continue to post here on that as things progress. One of the nice things about writing for piano is that the “mechanical” rendering of piano compositions by Sibelius truly sounds real, which is helpful for a guy whose technical abilities on the instrument are, well, limited!

Would love to hear from y’all!
