“The Great Barrier Reef” Live Performance!

The University of Kentucky New Music Ensemble, under the baton and coordination of Juan Trigos, performed my composition, “The Great Barrier Reef,” on April 17, 2025. At long last, I’ve posted a video of the performance. Thanks to Daniela D’Ingiullo for the source video and audio recordings.

The ensemble was mostly students (the flutist was an exception), who have massive academic and performance obligations elsewhere. I’m quite thankful for their willingness to participate in this project!…

  • Julie Hobbs, flute
  • Paul McDonald, clarinet
  • Abby Temple, trumpet
  • David Alonso Otero, sax
  • Kai Miller, trombone
  • Seth Dossa, tuba
  • James Beckner/Aaron Moeller, percussion
  • Angela Wang, piano

As always, details about this composition (including the Sibelius export) are available from the project page.

As a not-well-known composer working on the periphery of academics and classical performance, I’m intensely grateful for any opportunity to hear real instruments render my work. Juan has been extremely helpful, considering I’m not an actual degree-seeking student of composition.

Hope you enjoy!
