“Rondo B’out” is Baaaack!

[Quick note to BlueSky people — I’ve connected this blog to that platform as an experiment. Let me know how that goes!]

I started this piano composition last summer as I’d just finished something huge (“The Coast”), so wanted to focus small. As it turns out, my attention was pushed in another direction (more on that in a bit), but being as that project is now done, I decided to pay attention to it again.

I now have most of 2 sections done. Being as this will reflect the Rondo form, that’s close to half, since the 3rd and 5th sections will be modified repeats of the first. Since it’s not complete, it stops suddenly, but you can at least have a sense of where things are going.

The resurrection of this composition has delighted me, as well as my composition instructor, Juan Trigos, since his piano performance abilities are high, and he’s written serious works for the instrument himself. My goal, as always, is to use these projects as vehicles for learning about a corner of the world of classical composition, and I’m having a blast learning about writing for a pianist with serious abilities. As aways, my goal is to get this piece into a concert, but Juan will need to help me make that happen.

Anyway, have a listen. A reminder, it ends suddenly at what will be the end of the B section of an ABACA-form composition.
