This movement could really be about our relationships with each other through social media during any time during the last 10 years or more. However, tied to our homes and families during the worst of the pandemic, many people increased their participation in that world, with, well, mixed results. The verses move from pleasant surprise, to shock as more personal detail is revealed, and finally to reluctant resolution at the end.

This lyric set was completed entirely in advance — unlike the previous movement, I made almost no changes to the words, consciously attempting to write singable music which reflected the meaning of an existing lyric. This process was very difficult, which is why I was so slow publishing the results here! I’m hoping that this final version doesn’t get modified — the fear is always that one will endlessly edit, and nothing will ever be finished. Click here to go to the movement’s playback page.
