Back in the late 1990’s, I spent a month or so experimenting with a very non-pretentious precursor to the technologies I use for my current work. But my goal, then, was in trying to preserve some of the songwriting I’d done in the 1970’s, as a solo artist and a member of a band. The result was a CD with me playing acoustic and electric guitar and singing, with additional instruments provided by an electronic synth module playing MIDI data. All of the songs were original.

I decided that any website dedicated to my musical journey should probably include excerpts from that time in my life, so here they are, with MP3 playback and descriptions. The recording quality isn’t high by today’s standards, but they’re not embarrassing, either. But more importantly, just as is present elsewhere on this website, you can listen and get a sense of what I was trying to accomplish. The subjects and musical arrangements are, not surprisingly, a bit dated, but can still give pleasure.

I was very slow to do this, because the audience for “classical” music is so much smaller than the possible audience for songwriting with vocals and lyrics. I don’t want this to overshadow things. But, again, it was a thing, and it should be here.
